Before coming to the Netherlands in 2007, Anna Tsygankova (Novosibirsk, Russia) already had an impressive career as a principal behind her. She danced with the famous Bolshoi Ballet, the Hungarian National Ballet – where she still performs regularly as a guest artist – and the Ballett der Wiener Staatsoper.
Anna trained at the ballet academy in Novosibirsk and the Académie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo. She has won several international dance awards, and received the Alexandra Radius Prize in 2008, one year after joining the Dutch National Ballet. The magazine Dance Europe nominated her ‘outstanding dancer of the year 2010’ for her performance in Hans van Manen’s Sarcasmen, and this was followed last spring by another nomination for a ‘Zwaan’ award for Most Impressive Dance Achievement 2011 by the VSCD for her role as Kitri in Don Quichotte.
