Straight after a touring performance of Swan Lake last March, artistic director Ted Brandsen promoted Artur Shesterikov to principal, making the Russian dancer the latest addition to the company’s group of principals. Artur trained in his hometown at the Ballet Academy of the Perm State Theatre, one of the top three ballet academies in Russia. Along with Viktoriya Ananyan, he made the switch from the Tchaikovsky Perm Ballet to the Dutch National Ballet in 2007. Artur started out in the corps de ballet, but was rapidly promoted to coryphée and to soloist in 2010. At the International Ballet Competition Arabesk in 2004, he was nominated ‘most talented dancer’.
