The American dancer Marisa Lopez was born in San Francisco, trained at the San Francisco Ballet School and went on to dance for four years with San Francisco Ballet.
In 1998, she came to the Netherlands, and was soon followed by her partner Félipe Diaz. In four years’ time, she rose from the corps de ballet to the rank of second soloist, and in 2007 she was promoted to principal.
Marisa was awarded the Special Prize by Dansersfonds ’79 in 2004 and the Alexandra Radius Prize in 2005.
November 2012 Marisa stopped her career as a dancer.
