The Canadian dancer Matthew Golding, born in Regina, is now in his third season with the Dutch National Ballet. He was promoted from second soloist to principal in September 2010, following his spectacular performance in Alexander Ratmansky’s Don Quichotte.
He trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, the Kirov Academy in Washington D.C. and the Royal Ballet School in London. After his training, he first danced with the Studio Company of American Ballet Theatre and went on to dance with the main company for three years. In 2008 and 2009, he toured Spain with the Corella Ballet, the company of star dancer Ángel Corella.
Matthew is a winner of the Youth America Grand Prix and was nominated for a ‘Zwaan’ award for the Most Impressive Dance Achievement 2011 by the VSCD. In 2012 he is a nominee for the 'Benois de la Dance' for The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.
