biography

Sasha Mukhamedov, born in London, has two famous dancers for parents: the former Bolshoi and Royal Ballet star Irek Mukhamedov and former Bolshoi principal Masha Mukhamedov. Yet it was not taken for granted that Sasha would follow in their footsteps. Although she took dance classes at the musical school she went to as a child, it was only at the age of twelve, when her father cast her in the children’s production The Prince and The Pauper, that she really latched on. Sasha was accepted for The Royal Ballet School at the age of thirteen, which is very late for a dancer. She then followed her parents to Birmingham, where she trained at the Elmhurst School for Dance, and later to Greece, where she had private lessons from her mother for two years. In order to gain stage experience, Sasha danced in the Dutch National Ballet’s Nutcracker & Mouse King in 2008. The experience suited both sides so well that she stayed on. Since then, she has risen from the rank of aspirant to soloist. Sasha has won several dance awards, including ‘most promising dancer’ at the ballet competition in Varna in 2008 and a bronze medal at the Youth America Grand Prix 2007.
