In 2010, Jurgita Dronina (Saratov, Russia) danced the role of Kitri in the Dutch National Ballet’s production of Don Quichotte as a guest artist, after which artistic director Ted Brandsen offered her a contract. Before that, Jurgita danced with the Royal Swedish Ballet, after her training at the National Ballet Art Academy in Vilnius (Lithuania) and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. She has won several international dance awards, including first prize at the Grasse Ballet Competition in France and the Expressivity Award at the international dance festival Dance Open in St. Petersburg. In 2011, she was awarded the ‘Zwaan’ for Most Impressive Dance Achievement by the Dutch Association of Theatres and Concert Halls (VSCD) for her role of Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty. Shortly after that, Jurgita took maternity leave. She now has a son, Damian Ulysses, and has returned to the stage.
In April 2013 she won the award for Best Duet at the Dance Open Festival in Sint Petersburg (Russia).
