Guillaume Graffin recieved his training at the Conservatory of Paris and the Ballet School of the Paris Opera. After his graduation he joined the Paris Opera Ballet during Nureyev’s tenure. He moved to the Ballet de Monte Carlo to become a principal dancer.

In 1988 Mikhail Baryshnikov asked Guillaume to join the the American Ballet Theatre as a principal. He stayed there for seventeen years, dancing all the principal roles, performing with a distinctive combination of romantic lyricism and intelligence.
During the last stage of his dancing career he became a balletmaster for the American Ballet Theatre and during the last years of his stay in New York he took on character roles, with great success.

In 2005 Graffin joined the Dutch National Ballet as a balletmaster.
