Jurgita Dronina, principal with the Dutch National Ballet, has won the Expressivity Award at the international dance festival Dance Open in St Petersburg, Russia. Jurgita danced a pas de deux from Romeo and Juliet with principal Cédric Ygnace.
The award comprises a glass replica of a bronze sculpture of the foot of Anna Pavlova, dating from 1913 and made by B.O. Fredman-Klyuzel. Ted Brandsen, artistic director of the Dutch National Ballet, was one of the ten members of the jury, which was chaired by prima ballerina Natalia Makarova.?
