The Dutch National Ballet principal, Maia Makhateli, was presented with the Nina Ananiashvili & Gilbert Albert Star Award in her homeland of Georgia, on 27 June 2011. The award, which is an incentive prize for talented young dancers, was presented for the third year running.
Maia Makhateli was presented with the award at the end of June in the Rustavelli State Theatre, in the Georgian capital Tbilisi, at a special presentation gala evening. Partnered by Vyacheslav Lopatin, Maia danced the grand pas de deux from Don Quixote by Marius Petipa and Alexander Gorsky, in the version by Alexei Fadeechev and Nina Ananiashvili.
