On Sunday 18 December 2011, the Dutch National Ballet welcomed its 250,000th visitor to Nutcracker & Mouseking in The Amsterdam Music Theatre. This is an unprecedentedly high number of visitors for the performing arts sector.

Prior to the matinee performance on Sunday, the dancers lavished attention on the Dekkers family from Gouda, in the stage set for the enchanting ballet.

This year, the Christmas show for the whole family by choreographers Toer van Schayk and Wayne Eagling is celebrating its tenth season. Since it entered the Dutch National Ballet’s repertoire in 1996, Nutcracker & Mouseking has had full houses for practically every performance. This year, too, it is almost completely sold out.

There are performances of Nutcracker & Mouseking in The Amsterdam Music Theatre until 1 January 2012. A live recording of the matinee performance of the ballet on Friday 30 December will be shown in cinemas all over the world.
