The Dutch National Ballet is contributing a unique costume from the fairytale ballet Cinderella and a pair of Igone de Jongh’s signed pointe shoes for the 3FM Serious Request auction.

Igone de Jongh’s signed pointe shoes and the costume, which was originally made for and worn by Caroline Iura, former principal with the company, will be sold at the auction to the highest bidder. The proceeds will go to the 3FM Serious Request 2011 benefit campaign. Bidding is open until 2 January 2012.

For 3FM Serious Request, the public radio broadcasting station 3FM cooperates with the Dutch Red Cross. Every year since 2004, they have combined forces to focus attention on a ‘silent’ disaster. This year, the focus is on mothers who have been affected by war or conflict situations. For the campaign, three DJs volunteered to shut themselves away for the week before Christmas in a Glass House, where they played listeners’ request numbers in exchange for money for the campaign. At the same time, the DJs informed the listeners about the necessity of the campaign. This is the eighth edition of 3FM Serious Request.
