Until 31 December, dance-lovers have the opportunity to nominate the most outstanding dance performance for the Dance Audience Award 2012. New this year is the option to vote for an individual dancer as well as for a dance production. The 10 dancers and productions with the most nominations will be announced on 2 January, following which there will be a ballot.
Online nominations and votes can be made online through the website danspublieksprijs.nl. The award, in the form of an artwork, will be presented in the weekend of 9 February at a suitable location.
The Dance Audience Award is an initiative of the dance website Danspubliek.nl, in collaboration with Cultuurpers.nl and CultuurBewust.nl. The project’s aim is to provide a wide public with a means of showing their appreciation of dance and to draw attention to Dutch theatre dance. Whereas existing dance awards in the Netherlands are judged by an expert jury, the Dance Audience Award is judged by the audience.
