From Sunday 28 April to Saturday 4 May 2013, the Canadian National Ballet School (NBS) in Toronto is organising the Assemblée Internationale 2013 (AI 13). Students and staff from nineteen international dance academies are invited to take part in classes, performances and forums.
Ted Brandsen, artistic director of the Dutch National Ballet, will be choreographing a new work, entitled Verge, for this occasion, to be danced by four students of the Dutch National Ballet Academy (NBA). The work will be premiered in Toronto.
The NBA will also be taking part in a special live streaming project by choreographer Michael Schumacher (who often works in the Netherlands) and Shaun Amyot from the National Ballet School, who will collaborate in choreographing a new work. The NBA is one of 18 ballet schools taking part in the project.
AI 13 is a ballet festival held by the National Ballet School, in which young, talented international artists come together. The first edition was held in 2009.
