The 360-page book Herinneringen aan Sonia Gaskell (Memories of Sonia Gaskell) tells the personal story of dancer and choreographer Rudi van Dantzig, former artistic director of the Dutch National Ballet, and his teacher Sonia Gaskell, the founder of the company.
This story gives the reader insight into the history of over half a century of dance in the Netherlands and into the creation of the Dutch National Ballet and Nederlands Dans Theater. Above all, the book is an ode to dance and to Rudi’s colleagues Toer van Schayk, Han Ebbelaar, Alexandra Radius, Hans van Manen and many others.
The book will be published posthumously in mid-June by De Arbeiderspers, but is now available by pre-order through The Amsterdam Music Theatre shop. It is priced at € 24.95.
