Unfortunately this year's edition of New Moves is annulated.
In the first editions, young makers like Jan Linkens and John Wisman stood out and later went on to be successful choreographers. The later editions produced such talents as Ted Brandsen, Krzysztof Pastor and David Dawson. On taking up his post as artistic director in 2003, Brandsen breathed new life into the choreographic workshop, seeing it as essential to discovering and encouraging young choreographic talent. Since then, there has been an edition of the workshop every year, producing outstanding creations by Juanjo Arqués, Daniela Cardim, Monique Duurvoort, Peter Leung and Nicolas Rapaic, among others. This season, too, the company is giving its dancers another opportunity to develop their creative talents; not just as choreographers, but also as set or costume designers, lighting technicians or maybe even as composers or film makers. For the dancers performing the works, the workshop is often an ideal way to gain experience in soloist roles and/or to discover a different side to their talents.
