Festive opening of the 2013-2014 ballet season.
In recent years, the Dutch National Ballet has presented some special gala performances – for its fiftieth anniversary and on the occasion of the eightieth birthday of master choreographer Hans van Manen. These performances were so popular with the audience that the company has decided to organise a gala every year from now on, to mark the opening of the new ballet season.
The programme for the first gala in this new tradition, in September 2013, is still a surprise. But in any event it promises to be an extremely festive occasion, in which the whole ballet company will perform. There will be a special focus on the stars of the company, in virtuoso and scintillating pieces chosen from the company’s rich and varied repertoire. This gala will also introduce you to the new Junior Company of the Dutch National Ballet, which comprises the most talented young dancers from the Netherlands and abroad. The gala is an exclusive performance, held on one evening only.
