DUTCH NATIONAL BALLET AT MUSEUMN8 AND 2009 BALLET GALA
The Dutch National Ballet made a special appearance at the Amsterdam MuseumN8 2009 with a performance at the Amsterdam Hermitage where, on Saturday 7 November, the Company showcased the pas de deux from Balanchine’s Stravinsky Violin Concerto and Wie Lange Noch from Krzysztof Pastor’s Kurt Weill, danced respectively by Viktoriya Ananyan & Matthew Golding, and Natalia Hoffmann & Tamás Nagy.

On Monday 9 November the Stichting Dansersfonds ’79 presented its fifteenth Ballet Gala. That evening the Amsterdam Music Theatre hosted a performance of highlights from classical and contemporary choreography performed by stars from the Dutch and international dance world.

This year the Gala celebrated the repertoire of the Dutch National Ballet and that evening the Company danced the pas de deux from Christopher Wheeldon’s Tryst and Balanchine’s Stravinsky Violin Concerto.

As special guests New York City Ballet’s star soloists Philip Neal and Wendy Whelan flew to the Netherlands to dance the pas de deux from Balanchine’s Jewels. Manuel Legris and Aurélie Dupont from l’Opéra de Paris performed the pas de deux from Angelin Preljocaj’s Le Parc. Alongside the Dutch National Ballet, the Netherlands was represented by Introdans Ensemble for Youth, Nederlands Dans Theater II and young students from the Dance Department of the Hague Royal Conservatory.

The proceeds of the evening, at which all those involved donated their services for free, went to the Dansersfonds ’79 founded by former ballet stars Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar.
